MEET THE TEAM
Wallend-Air is the oldest and most experienced paragliding school in the country. Established in 1987, our core team of 4 has over 102 years of flying experience and 140 000 flights. Our master pilot, Pete Wallenda, literally wrote the South African paragliding training manual, and has served as chairman of the paragliding aviation board (SAHPA) for the last 4 years. Our qualifications are above reproach, both nationally and internationally. All our pilots are SAHPA certified and TFI (Tandem Flight Instructor) licensed.

Considered to be the father of Paragliding in South Africa and internationally recognised as a man of consummate experience, Pete has been sharing his love of paragling for over 37 years. He owns and manages Wallend-Air paragliding, is the chairman of SAHPA and is actively involved on a national level. He literally wrote the manual.
Pete is an instructor & TFI pilot (tandem flight instructor) and has represented South Africa three times at the world championships.

Sue is our youngest member in the team and has been flying since 2013.
She is our fun loving socialite and always up for a flight especially when she has someone to share it with. Sue is an instructor and commercial tandem pilot.

Carolina has been pioneering the sport in South Africa with Peter Wallenda since 1986. As a child she used to watch the hang gliders take off from high mountains in Switzerland and wished she could be one of them. When she became of age, she came to South Africa to live her dream.
For Carolina it is about freedom and being in nature.

Steve started paragliding in Cape Town, when a climbing friend was sponsored a paraglider.
Since then, he regards the experience as truly amazing, having been privileged to fly throughout Southern Africa and Europe.
Nature and free flight is an experience he loves to share with his fellow passengers, believing that “from the air looking down, one gets a better perspective”.
